My dad's Decommissioning

Sunday was the Decommissioning of my dad's battalion. It was a good ceremony and a lot of people complemented of what a good job he did. He gave a great speech. Some of it I didn't understand because they use all their "navy talk" and abbreviations and numbers--don't know why! And I have been around this stuff for 23 years! I love seeing these people in their uniforms.

Hi, I'm Katie..Brit's friend..my husband is in the navy. I was just wondering where the decommisoning was at? What ship was he on? I haven't been to one yet, but I'm sure they are really neat to watch. Congratulations to your dad!

hi katie. the decommissioning was at rickenbacher airport. he wasn't really on a specific ship. they were closing CHB-9 ballation down. he was the last commanding officier for that battalion. (if this doesn't make any sense its bc i dont know a whole lot of navy talk--this is from what i understand!! :) but the ceremony was as if they were closing down a ship..my dad said "old navy talk"--real former and such. it was really cool to watch.
